Four Carrier Oils Your Skin Will Love

Carrier oils, or vegetable oils, are a key ingredient in natural skincare formulations. They provide nourishment, protection and can help improve your complexion. There are lots of different oils to choose from but today we are going to highlight four carrier oils that your skin will love!

    Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is an impressive moisturising oil that is highly compatible with skin sebum. It balances oils in the skin, regardless of skin type. It is easily absorbed and deeply penetrating, leaving a soft and supple skin feel.

It is often included in anti-ageing, dry and sensitive skin products, but is also suitable for oily and problem skin. It is soothing and nourishing, helping to calm irritated and angry skin. Jojoba can also be incorporated in haircare formulations to encourage strong, healthy locks.

    Camellia oil
Camellia is a highly-popular cosmetic ingredient, providing moisture and encouraging cellular regeneration. Often used in anti-ageing formulations, it is rich in antioxidants and protects against UV damage. It also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Its fine texture facilitates fast absorption into the epidermis, nourishing the skin without leaving oily residue.

Ideal for all skin types, it soothes the irritation of dry skin, while also providing a non-greasy feel for those with oily or acne prone skin. Camellia is also ideal for baby care products such as massage oils or cradle cap remedies.

    Apricot Kernel oil
High in essential fatty acids, Apricot Kernel oil nourishes the skin, promoting a healthy and revitalised complexion. It is an emollient and occlusive oil, meaning it minimises water loss - maintaining the skin’s natural moisture. It is particularly useful for the face, eye/neck areas and dry, mature and sensitive skin types.

Its light weight consistency means it is readily absorbed into the skin. It has a good slip for massage but also blends well with denser carrier oils to help provide a lighter texture.

    Macadamia oil
Rich in oleic and palmitoleic fatty acids, Macadamia supports a healthy, supple complexion. It is moisturising and improves elasticity, making it an excellent choice for anti-ageing products. It can be used to nourish and hydrate delicate areas such as eyes, lips and décolletage.

It is also popular in haircare products as it gives life to dull, dry and brittle hair. When massaged into the tips it can help reduce the occurrence of split ends and can tame frizz.
