When you open your pantry, what do you see? Bottles and jars filled with ingredients to make delicious food for you and your family. But there are also lots of natural skincare ingredients sitting there that you can use regularly to help maintain a healthy complexion. If it's good enough to eat... then it's certainly good enough to put on your skin!
First up, let's look for some natural exfoliating ingredients and there's LOTS to choose from in your pantry. Do you have coffee grounds? Do you have granulated sugar or salt? Do you have almond meal? All of these ingredients can be used to exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin cells and encouraging a fresh skin feel.
All you need to do is combine a handful of your chosen exfoliant, mix it with some carrier oil and apply it directly to your skin. When you scrub your skin, move your hands in a circular motion towards your heart so that your circulation flows inward.
Speaking of carrier oils, what vegetable oils do you cook with? Do you have sunflower oil? Macadamia or avocado oil? How about coconut oil? All of these are fantastic for your skin and can be topically applied all over your body!
Sunflower is a great neutral oil that is easily absorbed and leaves your skin feeling smooth. Macadamia or avocado oils both are rich in vitamins and can improve skin elasticity. And coconut oil is recognised as being a beneficial moisturiser for dry skin.
You can even find ingredients that can be used for a luxurious bath soak. A combination of salt (epsom salts if you have them), milk powder and herbal tea can provide you with a blissful bathtub experience. The milk powder can help soothe your skin and if you use chamomile or peppermint tea you can boost the calming effects.
